pepperoni pizza monkey bread

I think that Pinterest is quickly taking over my obsession with Facebook.  Don’t get me wrong, I still care that your youngest just lost a tooth but currently I care more about what outfit you find cute, what mirror you want for your living room, or what dessert you want to eat. I can spend hours perusing images of food, clothes, puppies, and bathroom faucets…seriously…I love this site.  I have a board (you can “follow”me by clicking the link to the right) dedicated solely to food I need to cook and this pepperoni pizza monkey bread has been at the top of the board since the first day I logged on to Pinterest.

FINALLY this weekend I had the opportunity to do so.  Not only did it snow (my ultimate trigger for cooking indulgent food), but we also had a Sunday filled completely with football.  There was no doubt…the monkey bread would be made.  And let me tell you, unlike the Ravens, this recipe did not disappoint.

Pepperoni Pizza Monkey Bread (adapted from Confessions of a Foodie Bride)

what you need:

32 oz pizza dough (2 pizza’s worth)

8 oz fresh mozzarella cheese

1 package turkey pepperoni

5 tablespoons butter

3 garlic cloves, sliced

shredded parmesan cheese

what to do:

preheat oven to 400

take the pizza dough and cut or break into 48 equal parts (I just cut with my knife, it doesn’t need to be exact)

take the mozzarella and cut into 48 equal pieces as well

melt butter and garlic in a small saucepan and saute until the garlic is lightly golden brown. Remove and let cool slightly.

take each piece of pizza dough, spread it apart with your fingers, put a piece of pepperoni on top of dough, add a piece of mozzarella and then press the dough together to seal completely and make a “dough ball”

Repeat with all 48 pieces of dough

brush inside of a bundt pan with the butter.  Then brush each dough ball completely with butter (I used a pastry brush).  Place the dough balls into the bundt pan (it will fill about 1/2 of the pan)  If there is any remaining butter, brush the top of the rolls to use it all up.

cover the pan and let it rise for 30 minutes.

When ready, cook for 30-35 minutes (the top should be significantly browned)  Remove, sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and let cool for at least 10 minutes.

serve with marinara sauce and enjoy!

Hey Blake — Sorry if I missed it but what do you do with the shredded parmesan in the recipe? Sprinkle on top? Thanks!
